Having already gone through the in-depth process of choosing my Sperm donor in 2020 I knew what to expect when choosing my donors this time around.
Due to Coronavirus the donor egg bank unfortunately got quite low and there then became a longer waiting list.
I joined the donor matching list at the end of March and was told it was a 3-4 month waiting list – but there was a potential that it could go up to 4-6 months.
I put it in my head that overall I would probably wait until September and nothing was going to happen before then, so imagine my surprise when bag on 3 months the clinic contacted me to tell me that they had a donor match they though would be suitable for me.
How exciting.

However due to COVID, we are only sent one profile at a time. I knew this due to a Whatsapp group chat I am in, but we can decline and wait for another one.
However when the donor information came through she just sounded amazing!
Things that come through on her profile
– Ethnic Group
– Eye Colour
– Hair Colour
– Skin Tone
– Weight
– Height
– BMI
– Blood Type
– Occupation
I then have a pen picture from her which tells me other things about her, including that she does have children of her own so I know her eggs work and a Goodwill message for me and a potential future baby ❤
I could imagine her being within my social circle, being friends with her or knowing her through someone else.
I sent the profile to my mum and a couple of my friends and we all said the same.
I wondered if I was rushing into it – her being my first but I knew from before that sometimes we just need to go with our gut feeling.
I slept on it and then the next day I confirmed with the clinic that I wanted her to be my donor!
